The airport upgrade at Mthatha was part of the infrastructure upgrade programme under the previous presidential administration. Planting used were all indigenous with shade trees in the parking, feature planting and colour around the entrances and veld grass and water-wise ground covers along the pathways.
There were a lot of challenges including herds of goats passing through the parking lot during construction…munching away at the newly planted grass.
